《星际殖民》是一款科幻背景的即时战略游戏，游戏的类型很像是孢子银河大冒险的太空阶段，你需要从一个星球开始慢慢发展，进入其他星系冒险，建立殖民地。游戏中除了你选择的阵营还会有其他的物种，你能够选择与之发展外交，或者与他们成为不共戴天的仇人，这都是你的选择。游戏中飞船可以由你自行设计，通过各种模块的组合来生产属于你自己的飞船。
