刚才在world of ming 看到的,暴雪在波士顿举行的wow竞技场比赛情况
原文如下
The Boston North American Finals was a complete waste of time as a spectator.
If this is what all the Blizzard events are like, this whole tournament thing is a failure.
I live in the Boston metro region, so I went to the Saturday competition, in downtown Boston. The Hard Rock Cafe, where the event took place, is in a very popular location. At least 100,000 people are a block away from the Hard Rock on any given Saturday, so Blizzard chose a decent venue.
However, during the time I was there, there were maybe 40 spectators. Of those, a good 20 of them where there just to play the Starcraft II and Wrath of the Lich King demos. So only 20 people actually paid attention to tournament.
For all of Saturday, I bet that less than 100 people showed up to the Blizzard event.
In comparison, less than 100 ft away, there was a New Kids on the Block autograph session at Newbury Comics. There were easily 200 fans lining up outside the store, with already purchased CDs in hand waiting for an autograph, and an additional 300 fans inside the store waiting in line. All in all, over 1000 fans must have shown up for an autograph.
Boston is an expensive city. It had to have cost Blizzard a good $50,000 to host the regionals here, from travel costs to location costs to hotel costs.
I think they spent a whole $0 on marketing.
It was a complete waste of a marketing opportunity.
This must be some honeymoon period or something, because if a higher up Blizzard executive saw what was going on, these events would be scrapped faster than the morning newspaper.
Without a marketing campaign behind the regional event, they might as well hold the event at headquarters and save some money. Seriously, it couldn’t have been any worse, marketing wise, than what they did in Boston.
