本来这是一首描述黑奴悲惨命运的童谣，有趣的是这个版本后来被改动，人们认为最后一个小黑人吊死太过于黑暗所以改成了后来流行的版本He got married, and then there were none（一个小黑人人结婚了，最后一个都不剩）......莫非婚姻是爱情的坟墓这种说法世界通用么？阿加莎根据这首童谣改变的《无人生还》完全按照这首鹅童的原意，讲述孤岛发生命案的故事，后来《无人生还》被翻拍成n个版本的电影，有兴趣的推荐去挖87俄国版，还有国语配音。
